So most of my posts have been pretty positive, upbeat, and happy. Well...the tone of this one is frustration! People say that there's many stages in a child's life: terrible two's, three's are worse, and then when they are 4 a light turns on and they are much better. Well...I'm hoping that this is true. Now for the most part, Hailey is a wonderful little girl. She listens, follows directions, and is a joy to be around--again, I say most of the time, there's always exceptions. Today is one of those days, lol. Today has been a true trial of my patience. Now I don't know if they're connected at all, but it seems as though when Hailey learns a new skill that allows her more independence/freedom she gets a bit more attitude. I guess it's the heightened sense of power she has, or something like that, but sheesh!
So Hailey can now totally dress herself, including socks, and the snaps and zippers on her pants. Yay!!! :) But, like I said...a bit more attitude has shown up. Today I asked her to do a simple task: put on her shoes so she could check the mail with me. The heel kept folding in so she would get frustrated and throw herself on the floor. Finally asked for help...but oh no, I couldn't be the one to help her. Cue another dramatic tossing of herself on the ground and crying. Told her I would go put something in recycle and if she could be ready when I got back, she could go with- Third dramatic tantrum. Then once she had one shoe on, she took it off because she had to put it on a different way. Oy vey! In the end, her shoes ended up on her feet and she got to check the mail with me. Never mind the fact that we got no mail yesterday so the box was empty, lol.
Not sure of the point to this post, other than to keep myself busy as we are both having some cool off time, lol. Now please do not confuse this....Hailey is a very good girl on a typical day and I love her very much. And I definitely love all of the independence and knowledge that she is gaining-she is definitely a smart cookie. If only we could contain and give away some of this attitude, lol.
