Okay...a day late, but I wanted to make sure I had pictures to add to my post, lol.
First off-Thank you so much to all of our past and current soldiers who have fought for our freedoms (including my who was deployed to Iraq/Afghanistan right after the war started). It's a great day in the USA :-)
Our 4th of July was pretty low key, for the most part. We had a bbq dinner and then headed out to Celebration Park to watch the big firework display. At the park, Hailey got her face painted (what she had been so excited about all day long!), played some games, and got to dig in some hay to find "treasures"-aka candy. Since Hailey was so scared of the fireworks last year, we've been talking up the loud noises, etc with her hoping to squash some of those fears. Well....it worked, kind of. This year it wasn't the noise that she was afraid of. This year, it was the lights themselves. You see, we were sitting/laying pretty much underneath them (in fact, we all had firework debris fall on us) and so Hailey said that it looked like they were going to fall down and get her. To the adults...it was awesome! But I can totally see Hailey's point of view as well. So, instead of leaving, Hailey turned over in my lap and watched the fireworks in the reflection of Brian's sunglasses. Next year she says that she will try to look at the real thing, lol. We'll see! :-)
Hope everyone had a Happy 4th!
