1st Day of Spring!

Welcome to Spring (finally)! Though it was a bit cold in the morning, it was such a beautiful day out yesterday!!  Our family decided to head out to the Redondo Beach area in Des Moines and have a lunch picnic and play in the sand.  What a fun morning it was.  Hailey enjoyed throwing rocks in the water and making a sandcastle.  After leaving the beach, we headed to the mall to play indoors so that we could warm up a bit (our noses were all a little red by the time we were finished at the beach).  After a boy totally flattening Hailey to the ground because he was not watching where he was running, we decided to leave and run some errands, and finally head for home.  A bit later, Hailey and I decided to take advantage of the evening sun that was sticking around and play some soccer in the front yard.  We had so much fun and, at one point got giggling so hard that neither Hailey or I could kick the ball accurately, lol. I can't wait for the weather to be nicer for longer periods of time!   Happy Spring!
Beaches make us happy!

Showing off the largest rock she found...and yes, she did manage to throw that in the water all by herself!
"cheese"-literally!  I went to take this picture of Hailey and she immediately said cheese...when I looked at the picture later, I noticed she was showing off her string cheese bite...nice! Goofer!!
What a gorgeous day!

Hailey's new 'do'

So, Hailey and I are feeling much better after the flu-type illness that we had (unfortunately, Brian is now coming down with it), though Hailey still has a nasty cough. Doesn't surprise me, as my coughs always linger after being sick. With that said, we figured it was time to get her out of the house for a little bit since she's been cooped up for the last week or so (Hailey even missed a day of school because she was sick....she was NOT happy about that!) Hailey has been asking us for a haircut.  I'm usually the one who cuts her bangs, but this time she wanted to go to a  place to do it. Fine....Brian and I had been contemplating getting her a full cut, as she really only has had trims before.  Well, we went through with it!  I was so nervous that once they started cutting, I wouldn't like it.  But the cut is soooo cute on her, and she can't stop talking about her new hair ( I didn't realize just how long the back part of her hair had gotten) :-)  Hailey even gets to go to school tomorrow to show it off...and just in time, it's class picture day!
